THE IDEA
OBSCURED'S STORY

Obscured.sg was conceived one afternoon over coffee, as two individuals lamented over the difficulty for young, aspiring artists to break through and attain recognition.

One was a dreamer, the other a more pragmatic individual, yet both shared the same vision for a platform that would give raw talents a chance to showcase their works. Over time, the concept developed, and simultaneously, became a lot more ambitious – particularly in its desire to foster a community of young artists and dreamers through collaborations.

Only time will tell of Obscured's success, but in the meantime, we hope to continue to showcase the potential that Singapore has.

ABOUT THE SITE'S LOOK

As a site that was devoted to raw and undiscovered talent, the founding members of Obscured felt that the site's design should primarily draw focus on the content.

Drawing inspiration from the clean lines in publications like Vogue and Wallpaper, this was achieved through the site's emphasis on a grid structure, clean typography, use of white space and minimal design, as well as a slightly quirky navigation system all serve to direct the user's attention to the site's content - the works of local writers, photographers, artists, film-makers, musicians and dreamers alike.

Special thanks goes to Kai Hui and Terrix Lin for coding our site. Logo designed by Diana and Sean, site designed by Sean.
We scavenge and curate a collection of beautiful, home-grown, and raw works from the likes of aspiring local writers, photographers, artists, film-makers, musicians and dreamers.
